Could Nintendogs Replace a Real Puppy?

Nintendo certainly hit on a good idea when they invented Nintendogs on the nintendo ds, since most people really like dogs and children especially go through that stage of begging their parents for a puppy. It is quite possible that the game could replace a real puppy at least for those people who live in high-rise apartments and something to play with when you feel like relaxing after an intense Wii session.

The dogs used in Nintendogs are cute and lifelike and do gooey things like rolling over when you scratch their tummy with your stylus. Each pup has its own temperament, just like real dogs do and it's easy to become bonded with your choice. Of course, while they are puppies they get tired easily, so after about half an hour both puppy and child get to have a rest, great if you need your child to do something else.

The game is made more real by the use of voice to call your puppy by name and teach it tricks. It seems the only thing the game doesn't provide is a touch and feel experience. Kids can certainly get addicted to their Nintendo DS and they can learn just how much work there is in looking after a real dog. While there is nothing to beat the feel of warm, living fur wriggling around under your hand, at least with the Nintendo DS you don't have to mop up a real puddle.
